Fried Idli

Idli is a type of savoury rice cake popular can for breakfast in South India. There are so many variation in Idli like Button Idli, rava Idli , sambhar Idli etc.

Idli has been served hot with condiments such as sambhar or chutney . It preferred usually for breakfast and dinner.

Here I am adding some twist to make it for snacks by frying it with spices.

Ingredients

  • Idli – 5-6 chopped
  • Cumin seeds – ½ teaspoon
  • Mustard seeds – ½teaspoon
  • Handful of curry leaves
  • Oil – 2 tablespoons
  • Turmeric powder- ½ teaspoon
  • Sambhar masala – 1 tablespoon
  • Dry mango powder – ½ teaspoon
  • Red chilli powder – ½teaspoon

Method

  • First cut Idlis into small piece
  • Heat oil into pan and add cumin seeds & Mustard seeds and roast it for 30 second.
  • Add curry leaves in it & saute it.
  • Add chopped Idlis and mix it .
  • When it turns golden brown.
  • Add Turmeric powder , sambhar masala, Dry mango powder and Red chilli powder and it.

Serve it with tea as evening snacks.
